Unemployed and looking for new opportunities? How about a VTOS course?

Greenhills Community College

Are you aged over 21 years? Are you in receipt of a DEASP payment from Intreo for more than 6 months? If so, you may be entitled to be a VTOS (Vocational Training and Opportunities Scheme) student.

So, what is VTOS? VTOS provides a range of full-time courses to meet the education and training needs of unemployed people. It gives participants opportunities to improve their general level of education, develop their skills and gain certification. VTOS prepares students for employment, self-employment and further education and training including progression to Third Level.

What are the advantages of a VTOS course? VTOS students pay no fees.  All course materials and costs are also covered by the VTOS scheme. VTOS students may be entitled to a food and travel allowance. They can work up to 19 hours per week while attending their course. VTOS courses lead to a wide range of awards including Art, Business, Computing, Childcare, Healthcare and Social Care at Levels 3, 4, 5 and 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications. Students can use the qualification and skills they gain to progress into good employment or onto further education and training opportunities. VTOS courses are the ideal way to upskill and reskill, while gaining a valuable qualification that is internationally recognised.

How do I find my nearest VTOS course? VTOS courses are available all over Dublin, mainly in Further Education Colleges and VTOS centres. The full list of VTOS courses is available at www.qualifax.ie or if you are interested in being a VTOS student at Greenhills College email courses@greenhillscollege.ie
