Tidy Towns group across Lucan, Clondalkin, Saggart and Newcastle will be eligible to apply for funding totalling €10,000 for the county in 2025, a Fine Gael TD has said. The funding from Government will allocate a total of €1.5m across the country and was announced by Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys at the 2024 Tidy Towns awards ceremony.
Local TD and Minister for Business, Employment and Retail Emer Higgins said: “Our Tidy Towns groups in Lucan, Clondalkin, Newcastle and Saggart do such wonderful work to keep our towns and villages shining, and I am delighted to see this funding in recognition of that. “Our local groups performed extremely well once again in this year’s competition, which was recognised at the awards ceremony in Croke Park recently.
This year, Lucan proudly received a Bronze Medal with a score of 365, while Newcastle scored 337, Clondalkin 349, and Saggart 246.
“I’m really proud of our local TidyTowns results! Lucan, Newcastle, Clondalkin, and Saggart who have made amazing progress in the SuperValu TidyTowns competition and their hard work and dedication is clear considering all areas received higher marks than last year!” “These groups showcase the positive impact of community spirit and volunteerism. This is evident each and every week as we see volunteers across Dublin Mid West out and about early in the morning and late in the evenings, doing their bit to keep their area looking its best.
“We are so lucky to have volunteers who up their valuable time to their Tidy Towns groups, and without them, our communities would not continue to the vibrant, sustainable places that they are. “All groups in Dublin who entered the competition will be eligible to apply for a grant of between €1,000 and €4,000 for 2025. “The grants available include €2,000 for Saggart, €2,000 for Newcastle, €3,000 for Lucan, and €3,000 for Clondalkin”.
“Fine Gael is committed to building and supporting strong communities, and this funding is further evidence of that. “I want to congratulate groups for their successes in the 2024 competition and encourage them to apply for the 2025 funding. “I look forward to continuing working with Tidy Towns groups in Dublin Mid West as they progress more and more positive initiatives to keep our towns and villages thriving and shining,” Higgins concluded.
