TD supports SDCC Local Authority Workers in Dispute

TD for Dublin Mid-West Eoin O’Broin is standing with the workers of South Dublin County Council (SDCC) as they protest to seek clarity on the future of their employment conditions. The protest is a result of management’s refusal to commit to honouring the agreed Workforce Plan and fears of the privatisation of essential public services.

Speaking ahead of a recent demonstration in Jobstown, Teachta O’Broin said: “I am standing with the local authority workers and supporting their call for direct labour and an end to the direct use agency staff. “The workers are calling for South Dublin County Council to honour the workforce plan and clarify their position on it, immediately. “These essential workers have played a vital role in ensuring essential services such as Water, Roads, Parks, Housing, Litter, Cemeteries and others, have been maintained to the highest standards throughout the Covid-19 crisis. “I stand with them and echo their calls to SDCC. We need to ensure public services remain public and that the rights of these workers are respected.”
