Taoiseach Micheál Martin raises a cup as he commends the “incredible” work carried out by Hospices throughout Ireland on the 30th anniversary of the country’s biggest coffee morning.
He was joined by Mary Wharton, who has hosted coffee mornings for Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services in Dublin from her home in Churchtown, for the past 29 years.
The nation is urged to host a fundraiser for Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning Social for Hospice on September 22nd.
“The untiring work by Hospices in caring for those with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, is incredible,” said An Taoiseach at Government Buildings, where he was joined by Audrey Houlihan, Chairperson, Together for Hospice and CEO at Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services and Cól Campbell, Board Chair, Bewley’s Limited.
“The manner in which staff focus on the patient and their individual goals and aspirations is truly remarkable.
“I want to acknowledge all those involved in this, the 30th anniversary of the fundraiser, particularly those who host coffee mornings.
“It is reassuring for the public to know that funds raised locally go straight back into their local hospice.”
Together for Hospice, representing 26 hospices nationwide – and Bewley’s, its partner since 1992 – are calling on everyone to host a coffee morning on September 22nd.
