Tanaiste Presents Peamount Hospital staff prestigious local hero awards

Clondalkin Councillor Trevor Gilligan welcomed the Tánaiste, Micheál Martin, along with Dublin MEP Barry Andrews, to an event presenting staff at the St Bríd’s Neuro Disability Unit at Peamount Hospital with the Local Hero Award. Cllr Gilligan organised the event to acknowledge the tremendous work and commitment of the staff to residents and the wider community. At the event, the Tánaiste also officially re-opened the St Luke’s Church Unit at the Hospital, which has recently completed refurbishment works.

Tánaiste Micheál Martin said: “I was delighted to present the Local Hero Award to the staff of St Bríd’s Neuro Disability Unit at Peamount Hospital. The compassion and care the staff bring to their work is clear and it was an honour to present them with the award, which is a deserved recognition of the life-changing work that they do.”

Dublin MEP Barry Andrews said: “It was absolutely wonderful to attend the Local Hero Awards at Peamount Hospital. It was heartening to see people who play such important roles in their community get the recognition they so richly deserve. Well done to the staff and volunteers for their continued hard work that makes such a difference to people’s lives.”

Cllr Gilligan said: “It was an honour to organise the event unveiling the plaque for the overall winners of the prestigious Local Hero Awards at St Bríd’s Unit at Peamount Hospital. I wanted the event to appropriately recognise the vital importance of the work done by the staff and their dedication to residents and the wider community.

“The event was also marked by the Tánaiste, after speaking to staff and residents, cutting the ribbon on the recently refurbished St Luke’s Unit in the hospital which was originally built in 1912. “The staff at Peamount Hospital play such an important role in our community here so I was delighted to formally recognise their efforts.”
