On Monday May 14th, Griffith College Dublin faculty of Law hosted a parchment ceremony for the Transition Year students of Coláiste de hÍde Tallaght for completing an introduction to Law course. This programme was taught by the teachers of the school.
The introduction to Law programme ran over a period of 8 months where students covered a number of topics including Criminal Law, Moot Court and EU Law. To obtain certification the students completed a variety of assessments throughout the year.
This is the third year of this venture between Griffith College Dublin and Coláiste de hÍde, and one that both institutions have certainly learned and benefited from. With over 60 students participating this year, the success of the course just keeps growing year on year.
Stephen Dempsey, a former student of the Law Faculty was the teacher that established this programme three years ago. This year, Michelle Ní Bhraonáin taught and managed the programme with Stephen’s assistance.
Karen Sutton, head of the Law Faculty, said; “The introduction to Law course provides the students with a great foundation for the world of Law. Without Stephen’s hard work and commitment to the programme and the ongoing support of Principal Deiric Mac an Bhaird, it would not be possible. We hope to continue this initiative for many years to come”.
