Talented teenagers from Coláiste Cois Life in Lucan won awards at the recent All-Ireland Final of Scléip 2020! Organised annually by Gael Linn for Irish medium second-level schools nationwide, and funded by Foras na Gaeilge, Scléip is a celebration of contemporary music, song, dance ‘as Gaeilge’. The final was held recently in the Clasach theatre, Clontarf and almost 300 star-struck students, who had qualified through preliminary rounds before Christmas, were on stage during the event!
Coláiste Cois Life students, Caoimhe Garvin, Helen Nic Cárthaigh, Liam Walsh and Daithí Ó hArrachtáin, were awarded first place in the junior section of the Pop/Rock singing group category (Popghrúpa/Racghrúpa le féintionlacan). The Pop/Rock group, ‘Beocht’, competing in the senior section of the same category took second place. Instrumentalist, Tom Ó Neill, took first place in the junior section of the solo instrumentation category. Elaine Uí Ghéaráin was the teacher who guided them to their success! The winners were presented with specially-designed plaque and medals.
Seán Ó Ceallaigh, Gael Linn, praised the work put in by all the teachers and their dedication to encourage the young students whom participated in the competition. He also thanked Foras na Gaeilge for their continuing support for the event.
