An EU Directive introduced in 2018 now requires all buildings to meet the Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) energy performance transforming standard practices across the building sector from procurement to design, construction, and the use and maintenance of a building over its life cycle. In response, the Dublin School of Architecture at TU Dublin has developed a Continuous Professional Development certificate in NZEB Policy & Technology for professionals working in a range of roles throughout the sector. Successful applicants can avail of Springboard+ funding covering 90% of the €416 fee. The online, six-week programme is due to start on Friday, 12 February 2021, with the closing date for applications on Tuesday, 2 February 2021.
Speaking about the CPD in NZEB Policy & Technology, Joseph Little, Assistant Head, Dublin School of Architecture, says the qualification is designed to help fill a knowledge gap in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector. “Since the start of 2020, the NZEB standard applies to all new buildings and to major renovations of existing dwellings. For professionals such as architects, architectural technologists, engineers, and building surveyors, an understanding of NZEB is critical to their career development. This CPD certificate provides a comprehensive introduction to NZEB policy and technologies and is comprised of online learning assessments based on a range of NZEB design topics providing successful students with 100 structured CPD learning hours, or two years annual professional CPD learning.”
The CPD Certificate in NZEB Policy & Technology module is open to the following applicants:
- Registered Architects,
- Professionally qualified architects who are or have been members of the RIAI, subject to an interview,
- Registered Architectural Technologists,
- Professionally qualified Architectural Technologists, subject to the requirements scheduled below,
- Registered Building Surveyors,
- Chartered Engineers.
