Frances Fitzgerald T.D. has confirmed that there will be a Sports Capital Grant scheme for 2018.

Outlining the opportunity this fund provides, Fitzgerald stated; “As a local TD, I have worked hard over the years with many local clubs, schools and organisations on Sports Capital Grants. Last year alone, local projects across Clondalkin, Lucan, Palmerstown and the Four Districts were awarded over €1million in Sports Capital Grants. “€40million has been made available for the next round of Sports Capital Funding and that the application process will open in July. Government has confirmed a pipeline of funding for the scheme under Project Ireland 2040, with €100 million set aside for Sports Capital Grants over the next four years and a commitment to expanding the scheme for 2022- 2027.

“I would encourage sports clubs, schools and local organisations to begin thinking and preparing projects that may be suitable for Sports Capital Funding. Further information on the scheme, including details on the application process and scoring system applied can be found online at http://www.dttas.ie/sport/english/sports-capital-programme. “I have really enjoyed working with so many of our local clubs, schools and organisation on projects over the years. We have seen the positive impact the fund can have with expanded facilities at Round Towers GAA Clondalkin, St. Mary’s GFC, St. Pats GAA and numerous other athletic and sports clubs. “Improving our local facilities and amenities continues to be a priority of mine. I want to ensure that residents have opportunities in their local area and that our clubs and organisations are supported to thrive.”
