SPECSAVERS has opened the doors to a new Dublin store at Citywest Shopping Centre, marking the 61st Specsavers to open in the Republic of Ireland. The store opening has created seven new jobs locally. The store is overseen by store directors, Stephen McKenna, James Ryan and Rory Dowds. Together with an experienced team of optometrists, audiologists and highly-trained staff, Specsavers Citywest provides customers with great service and value for money across both optical and audiology. Located in Citywest Shopping Centre and measuring 2,350ft2, the new store employs a total of 15 staff members from the local area.
Store director, Stephen McKenna, says: ‘We are delighted to be opening in Citywest. It’s a major milestone to be opening the 61st store in Ireland and to be able to bring our professional offering to the wider community. This opening illustrates the consistent growth and commitment of Specsavers in Ireland, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and support of our customers. We look forward to welcoming customers to the new store, which offers exceptional optical and audiology services, along with stylish yet affordable eyewear to people of all ages.’
Fellow store director, Rory Dowds, continues: ‘We are committed to bringing advanced technology to the people of Citywest. We have invested in sophisticated, state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring we have the most professional service available to our customers. The new store is a state-of-the-art facility that will house all the latest equipment including five bespoke optical testing rooms and a soundproof hearing room for hearing tests. We use high-tech equipment which can play an important role in the early detection of eye disease as we don’t view it as just a sight test but an overall eye health check.’
Demonstrating their commitment to providing customers with the latest optical technology, the store has invested in hospital-grade Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), a cutting-edge piece of equipment that allows opticians to view the eye in more detail than ever before. An OCT scan can help detect treatable eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration sooner. It can also help detect glaucoma up to four years in advance. This means conditions can be managed before they get worse and can help prevent potential sight loss. An OCT scan only takes a few seconds and allows your optician to look deeper into your eyes than ever before.
With three optical test rooms on site, Specsavers Citywest can also offer the screening which is required for Group 2 Driving Tests. What’s more, an on-site lab means some customers can expect to receive their frames within an hour of their appointment. Customers seeking the latest fashionable eyewear need look no further than Specsavers Citywest, which boasts over 1,000 frames from top designers including, HUGO, MARC JACOBS, Balmain, Orla Kiely and the newly launched Viktor&Rolf collections, all part of Specsavers’ famous 2 for 1 offer. Little ones can choose from ranges such as Disney and Marvel. The team of highly-trained staff also offer customers Specsavers’ virtual try-on technology, Frame Styler, which helps customers choose the perfect pair of specs to suit their face shape and overall style. Staff will also be on hand to offer expert advice to contact lens wearers. In addition to being experts in eye health, Specsavers Citywest also houses an on-site hearing centre with an audiologist on site two days a week. The store provides free three-minute hearing checks letting customers know whether they would benefit from a full hearing test.
Specsavers Citywest also offers customers PRSI optical and hearing benefits, which are available to both employed and self-employed workers. Under the PRSI treatment benefit, anyone who has been employed or self-employed in Ireland for two years, is entitled to a free eye or hearing check. They’re also entitled to a free pair of €69 Specsavers glasses or contribution to the €89 range or above and are eligible for half of the cost of a hearing aid, up to a maximum of €500 for a single aid, or up to €1,000 for a pair. Customers can also claim up to 50% off repairs and replacement hearing aids too. Specsavers Citywest is now open at Unit 22 Citywest Shopping Centre, Dublin 24.
