Curran calls on local retailers to apply for Council’s Shop Front Grant Scheme 2019 with grants up to a maximum of €8,500 available.
South Dublin County Council this month will launch the Shopfront Grant Scheme for 2019. The scheme is intended to improve the appearance of independently owned shops fronting public streets. Speaking about the launch of the scheme, John Curran T.D.has called on local retailers in the villages of Clondalkin, Lucan, Palmerstown, Rathcoole and Saggart to apply for this grant. He said: “Grants up to a maximum of €8,500 are available. The Council are committed to paying 50% of the overall cost. Example Grant with overall approved costs of €1,200: SDCC pay €600 – you pay €600. Grants are available for something as simple as painting your shop, replacing signage or even replacing your entire shopfront so it is a very worthwhile grant scheme for local retailers and their business and for our local village’s appearance and the community. Last year Freyne’s Pharmacy in Clondalkin Village won the award for best Shopfont 2018.
There is a closing date for application for this grant in March and I am hoping those interested do not miss out and so I am calling on local retailers to keep an eye out for the Council’s launch of this scheme in the coming weeks. You can get all the relevant information and application forms from the Council’s website www.sdcc.ie or contact the County Promotion Unit if you have any queries on 01- 4149000 Ext: 4631 where they would be happy to assist you on your application.
