The most wonderful time of the year is nearly upon us and Santa is as busy as always, but not so busy that he can’t make time for the children who are linked in with NCBI! Santa has returned to NCBI HQ once again, with the help of An Post, to respond to letters from children who are blind or vision impaired.
What makes our team up with Santa so special is that he will respond to each child’s accessibility requirements with a letter of his own in whichever format suits each child best – audio CD, Braille or large print.
Lina Kouzi, NCBI Library Access Service Manager, explained: “Santa has become a brilliant friend to NCBI and each year he works with us, he is becoming even more of an expert in written material accessibility for children with sight loss!
“This project is always a special one as it allows Santa and the children connected to NCBI to share special moments that will hopefully become a Christmas memory that lasts a lifetime. We hope that children who are blind or vision impaired all around Ireland will get involved once again. Let’s keep Santa busy!’
If your child or a child you know would like an accessible Santa Card, you can email your letter to: Santa@ncbi.ie. If you would prefer to send a physical letter, please send it to Santa, C/O NCBI Library, Unit 29 Finglas Business Centre, Jamestown Road, Finglas, Dublin 11.
To make sure that Santa and his elves get it right during the busy festive season, please let Santa know if you would like an audio, Braille or large print response and please provide your address and Santa will write back!
Please also keep in mind that Santa gets lots of post this time of year so he needs to have your letters in by the 14th of December! Let’s make this Christmas an unforgettable one, for all children.
