Saggart Village Residents Association and Millrace Residents Association organised Santa to be driven through the streets and estates of Saggart village in a convertible car on one special night in December. The aim was to bring Christmas cheer to the boys and girls of the village and Santa said hello to all the boys and girls in a socially distanced way. He was accompanied by his elves and reindeer and escorted along the route by the flashing lights of our local community guards: Liam Sex, Colm Byrne and Tom Grace, Rathcoole policing. Cllr. Francis Timmons had a very special role that night and was very close to Santa! JB Motors provided the car which drove Santa around.
The event was a great success, with many positive messages of thanks coming into Saggart Village Residents Association’s Facebook page. To see the smiles on the faces of the children and parents lining the paths was as magical for the volunteers as it was for the children. This event involved many people within the community working together to spread both Christmas and community spirit.
