Deputy Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Cathal King, officially opened the playground at Bancroft Park. Speaking at the event the Deputy Mayor said, “The concepts for change came from playground users and ideas which have been tried and tested during the delivery of the playspace programme across the county. Many of the changes incorporate natural play into the playground. Natural play has been proven to have benefits for children in terms of increasing well-being, developing imagination and allowing children to assess risk and develop their coping abilities.” He also paid tribute to the local community for their support of the popular playground and of Bancroft Park and the work of the Council staff in managing the project and maintaining the playground.
