Local Cllr. Charlie O’Connor, has again responded to calls that he is receiving from the area regarding the schedule being followed in respect of the Tymon North Community Nursing Home. Charlie O’Connor raised the matter at the November meeting of the Regional Health Forum Dublin Mid-Leinster and was told by management that: “The full cost for the construction of Tymon North Community Nursing Unit (including land acquisition) is €24 million”. HSE Management also confirmed that: “The building has recently been handed over to the HSE by the construction contractor”.
The report to Charlie O’Connor also stated that: “The building is currently in the process of being outfitted with the necessary equipment for the safe operation of the unit, it is anticipated the outfitting will be completed by the end of this year. In early 2020 the regulator, HIQA (Health Information and Quality Authority) will be invited to inspect and register the unit as suitable for a Community Unit for Older Persons”. According to Charlie O’Connor, a long time campaigner for this facility, there is particular interest in the local area regarding plans for the Home and many families await news of plans for the admission of patients to the Unit. He has asked the HSE to continue to provide updated reports in respect of the matter and he has undertaken to keep the community fully informed.
