O’Connor calls for action on Templeogue Post Office.

Post Office

Councillor Charlie O’Connor has called on An Post management to immediately progress plans for the opening of a Post Office in Templeogue.

According to Charlie O’Connor, he is receiving calls from the Templeogue area about the closure of the Post Office in Templeogue village and he has raised the matter with the Chief Executive of An Post stressing the concern of the local community.

He has been told by An Post that “the vacant contract at Templeogue was advertised in August with a closing date on the 17th of the month. Just one application was forthcoming and the Selection Board deemed the business proposal to be unsuitable as the premises on offer was too far removed from Templeogue Village.”

The company also told Charlie O’Connor that “it is the view of An Post that finding a suitable application for the Templeogue contract will be more easily achieved if the shop which was previously co-located with the Post Office was to resume trading.”

Charlie O’Connor has assured local residents that he will continue to pursue the matter and he believes that everything possible should be done by an Post to have a local post office in Templeogue re-opened.
