Local Councillor Charlie O’Connor has welcomed progress regarding the development of the new Nursing Home in Tymon North in Tallaght. At the July meeting of the Regional Health Forum, Dublin Mid-Leinster, he sought an update following a number of enquiries from local organisations and residents.
In response the HSE reported as follows: “The new community nursing facility at Tymon North, Tallaght is progressing well and is at an advanced stage of completion, in line with the HSE estates project plan. The HSE anticipate to receive handover of the newly constructed nursing home at Tymon North, Tallaght from the contractors in the 3rd quarter of 2019. When the premises have been handed over to the HSE, the process of outfitting will commence. This process can take up to a number of months to complete and it is anticipated the fully completed premises will be open soon after this process is completed. However, there is also a requirement for the premises to be compliant with the necessary regulatory requirements before residents can be admitted to their new home and efforts are ongoing to ensure this occurs at the earliest opportunity. There will be ongoing communication and engagement with residents in the current St Brigids Centre who are expected to transfer to Tymon North. Once open, the HSE envisage a phased approach to opening the remaining beds in the new Unit, Tymon North to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. If a person has a preference for the Tymon North Unit or are already residing in another Nursing Home, they can express their wish to apply for long term care in Tymon North. With respect to possible employment, all job opportunities are advertised on HSE.ie site. Any persons interested in applying for positions that may arise within Tymon North are advised to monitor this site. “
According to Charlie O’Connor there is particular interest in a number of aspects of the development and he has particularly received enquiries from families regarding the availability of places at the new centre. He has also received calls regarding job opportunities at the new Nursing Home and he hopes that the information provided to him this month will be of benefit in that regard. Councillor Charlie O’Connor has also undertaken to keep the wider community updated in respect of the plans.
