New data on number of days since Covid 19 case in Lucan, Clondalkin, Palmerstown, Rathcoole, Newcastle and Saggart to be released

Covid19

The Health Prevention Surveillance Centre (HPSC) is now working on compiling data on the number of days since a COVID-19 case for every county and electoral division in the country, local Fine Gael TD, Emer Higgins has revealed.

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Mid West, Emer Higgins, received confirmation that the HPSC aims to release this new data for the first time this week and then update it daily.

This follows on from a request from Deputy Higgins to Minister for Health Simon Harris on the floor of the Dáil recently to release this data by county and electoral division.

Speaking recently, Deputy Higgins said: I am delighted that the Minister has now agreed to release daily data on the number of days since a positive diagnosis for every county and electoral division in the country.

“Providing this data by electoral division will reveal the number of days since a Covid 19 case in Lucan, Clondalkin, Palmerstown, Newcastle, Rathcoole and Saggart.”

“This level of local detail will bring the threat of this virus to life in our local communities and provide a crystal clear picture of how prevalent it is in our local area.

“It will provide reassurance to areas free from Covid 19 that their efforts have borne fruit and provide hope to other areas that if we continue to follow the public health advice, we are on the path out of this crisis.”

Emer Higgins continued: “The public have been reassured throughout this crisis by the flow of information from the HSE.

“Releasing data on the number of cases by county made it clear that this crisis affected every part of our country.

“The HSE went one step further, releasing approximate locations of every reported case.

“This confirmed to any sceptics that we need to follow the expert advice regardless of what village or town we live in.

“The flow of information is our friend and ally in this pandemic. It is essential to bring people with us and explain why we are asking them to make such serious changes in their lives and bear with serious restrictions.”
