Mateo Marrone, from Rathcoole has just turned 13 years old. Mateo started playing 8-ball pool about a year and a half ago. He began competing with the Irish Pool Association & The Blackball Federation of Ireland a year ago. He has come on leaps and bounds in his first season of competitive pool, and as a result finished the season as number 1 ranked under-15s in Ireland for Blackball Pool. He has taken to this sport like a fish to water. The Rathcoole student, has been invited to play for Irelands ‘A-team’ in the World Championships, Malta. The competition takes place in November.
Mateo has played for Rathcoole FC since he was 5 and has recently started secondary school at Holy Family Community School.
Mateo’s Dad Dan, commented on how proud the family are “We are all extremely proud of his achievements”.
