Local representative Ruth Nolan highlights a local organisation’s appeal for Easter donations, she said “The latest Food Insecurity Research launched by children’s charity Barnardo’s shows some 41% of parents have said they had to skip meals or reduce portion sizes last year so that their children would have enough to eat. This figure is an increase of 12% on the previous year 2022. This research also found that 24% of parents said they borrowed money to feed their children last year, up 8% on the 16% figure in 2022”.
“Meanwhile 12% of parents used a food bank last year. These figures are appalling for a first world country like Ireland”. “One of these valued centres that assists people in food poverty is the Quarryvale Family Resource Centre in Clondalkin. They are appealing for Easter donations such as Easter eggs, hot cross buns and other goodies. They can be dropped off at the centre until Monday 25th March, or you can donate to their GoFundMe Easter fundraiser”
