Ireland’s largest drinks festival set to support Debra Ireland

Visitors to Ireland’s largest gin, spirits and cocktail event, Dublin Drinks Mixer, are set to raise a glass in aid of butterfly skin charity Debra Ireland.

The event at the National Convention Centre on April 17 and 18 will see over 90 Irish and international craft spirit and drinks brands provide tastings, food pairings and innovative masterclasses.

“We raised over €20,000 for Debra Ireland at last year’s Gin Experience Dublin and we are hoping attendees at the Dublin Drinks Mixer will help us do even better this year,”  said Ally Alpine, owner of Celtic Whiskey Shop, and creator of the Dublin Drinks Mixer.

Debra Ireland supports 300 people in Ireland living with the hugely distressing butterfly skin condition EB (epidermolysis bullosa), which causes the skin, both inside and out, to blister and wound at the slightest touch.

There is no known cure for EB and the only treatment is constant painful bandaging of the skin.

“It is wonderful to be part of this really exciting event which is helping to raise funds and awareness of this rare and incredible painful genetic condition,” said Susan Woodcock, Community and Groups Manager at Debra Ireland.

Tickets are €40 and at least €10 from every ticket will be donated to Debra Ireland along with money raised from a raffle at the event. Attendees can choose from one session on Friday, April 17 and two sessions on Saturday, April 18.

Tickets are available for €40 plus booking fee from dublindrinksmixer.com or for €40 from the Celtic Whiskey Shop, Dawson Street, Dublin 2. Tickets for masterclasses are also available online.

*Note the event is strictly over 18’s and ID is required.
