Fianna Fáil TD for Dublin Mid-West John Curran has welcomed the news from Dublin Bus this week that they intend to improve bus services of the Number 69 in Rathcoole from April 2018. Commenting on the issue Deputy Curran said: “I continue to raise the issue of overcrowding on a number of Dublin Bus Routes in our constituency of Dublin Mid-West.
My office was inundated with residents in Rathcoole complaining about the poor service of the 69 bus. Having made continuous representations to Dublin Bus regarding the Number 69 service in Rathcoole, they have now confirmed to me that they are currently reviewing Route 69 with a view to improving reliability and addressing morning loading issues. There will be a revised timetable with an additional morning departure on Monday to Friday services. These changes are planned to be introduced in early April 2018 and it is hoped they will improve frequency and reliability on Route 69.
Customer demand in Rathcoole and across Dublin has increased significantly over the last 12 months. Fianna Fáil recently put down a Private Members Motion in the Dáil to call for increases in bus services in Dublin to meet the demand of growing populations in our towns and villages. This is something that I will continue to raise. Minister Ross must start giving us shor and medium term proposals to help alleviate the pressure immediately on commuters and not wait for everything in 2040,” concluded Deputy Curran.
