Greenhills Community College in Walkinstown under the patronage of Dublin and Dun Laoghaire ETB, is proud to announce the official launch of its new AEN (Additional Educational Needs) Special Class and resource rooms. The event took place on the 25th of September with special guest Minister Hildegarde Naughton TD, Minister of State for Special Education and Inclusion, in attendance to inaugurate the new facilities. The launch marks an exciting new chapter for the school, which has been a pillar of the local community since its founding in 1970. The newly developed spaces include three classrooms, a kitchen, a sensory room, a locker room, a reading room, and a games room, all designed to enhance the learning environment for students with additional educational needs.

Minister Naughton toured the new facilities, met with students, and officially unveiled a plaque to commemorate the occasion. She also delivered a speech celebrating the school’s commitment to inclusive education and the well-being of all students. Greenhills Community College’s forward-thinking approach includes integrating AEN students into mainstream classes while providing comprehensive support tailored to individual needs. The school’s initiatives, such as the innovative “Cooking for Life” programme, showcase its dedication to both academic achievement and life skills development.
