Each year approximately 30 adults give of their time voluntarily to provide five-day training to 60 students from six schools in the North Kildare, Dublin West area.
The overall aim of the programme is to prepare the students to work together as a team, within their own schools, and become role models for other students in the school and for one another. The training helps students to recognise their own strengths and how they contribute to their team. Students also learn the importance of differences within the team and how these help the planning and development of actions. Knowing their opinions matter and that they can make changes if they try can improve self-esteem, the school environment and wider community for many people.
The Gluais programme faces many challenges itself, one reoccurring concern is finances. As a result, they are organising a fundraising event that will help for the year ahead.
A Makeup Masterclass by two well-known Instagram makeup artists (keega22 and Leah.stafford) will take place on Sunday 17th June in Finnstown Castle Hotel, Lucan. On the day there will be four make up demonstrations and tips for popular looks. There will also be an example of sugaring hair removal and some pop-up shops. Tickets will be €20 per person, which will cover entry, a goodie bag and entry into a raffle.
