They are volunteers trained in Cardiopulmonary Resusitation(CPR), use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) cardiac chest pain management, Stroke recogniton and choking managment. Responders are dispatched by the National Ambulance Service via a text alert and provide life saving interventions while waiting for the Emergency Ambulance to arrive. 70% of Cardiac Arrests occur within the home or community. When activated, Community First Responders are on scene 80% of time prior to Emergency Ambulance.
