Former ‘Operation Transformation’ participant encourages people to get fit in 2019 Sean Daly, Specsavers Clondalkin store manager, has shed more than 6st since his stint on the RTE show in 2017 & he is still inspiring others to follow in his footsteps Clondalkin native Sean explained that taking part in the show not only helped him to lose weight but also to become more confident and comfortable in his own skin. The 27-year-old has worked with Specsavers for five years and said his co-workers have played a huge part in helping him to stay healthy.

Sean said: “It hasn’t all been plain sailing, and it is hard at this time of year to motivate yourself to get into shape and eat well, but that hard work pays off. I wanted to change – I needed to change for my health – and although it is hard, it is definitely worth it, I don’t regret a thing.” Despite his hectic work schedule Sean got right back into a healthier lifestyle from the start of January – after a packed social calendar in December. He said: “I said yes to everything over Christmas, so I started fresh from January. I would encourage anyone who wants to make that change in their life to start today – don’t wait.” Although he is surrounded by lots of fast food options, picking the healthier choice has become easier over time.
Sean said: “My colleagues at Specsavers are very good, they are always asking me have I been to the gym and how my journey is going. Today one of my friends brought in dinner for me because she knew I’d be working late, it really helps to have supportive people around you!” According to the former Operation Transformation leader the key to a healthier lifestyle is preparation and staying active – Sean makes healthy meals ahead of time so as he is not tempted to splurge. He recommends turkey burgers as a healthy and tasty meal for people trying to improve their eating habits and maintain a balanced lifestyle. He also explained that his new-found confidence has helped in all aspects of his life. He said: “It is a different kind of confidence; I was always the life and soul of the party but underneath that I was very self-conscious, I had no self-esteem at all so Operation Transformation helped a lot with that. It has also helped me be more confident about dating and sitting down and talking with customers at work. The managerial role at Specsavers has been so good for me, and the company could not have been more supportive of my journey.”
