Condition around the Veronica Guerin memorial displays a lack of respect

Veronica Guerin Memorial Clondalkin

Cllr Francis Timmons said “The condition around the Veronica Guerin memorial displays ‘a lack of respect’ to Veronica’s memory. I am calling on South Dublin County Council (SDCC) to immediately landscape this area, it’s not good enough. I have had a lot of local residents onto me about this issue and I have written to SDCC to get the issue sorted, it needs to be included in a regular maintenance schedule.’’

“Veronica was sadly murdered on 26 June 1996, aged just 37 on the Naas Dual Carriageway, Newlands Cross. She was a brave woman who fought bravely to highlight crime on a national level and she did this country a great service that sadly cost her life. ’’

The response from the Environment, Water and Climate Change department of South Dublin County Council confirmed “The area around the Veronica Guerin memorial will be cut again and included on a regular cutting schedule”.
