Clondalkin Primary Health Care Centre to commence on site early 2020

Primary Care Centre

Every effort must be made to ensure that the HSE fulfil its commitment to Clondalkin Primary Health Care Centre in 2020

Local Clondalkin T.D. John Curran has welcomed the HSE’s announcement that construction will commence of the new Clondalkin Primary Health Care Centre on the Boot Road in early 2020. Deputy Curran was commenting after receiving information from the HSE through a Parliamentary Question that construction of this Health Centre is to commence in Q1 2020; “In a previous reply from the HSE in relation to the delivery of the Boot Road Primary Care Centre the HSE committed to delivery of this centre in Q4 2018; it is now imperative that this project continues without any further delays.

“The provision of primary care and multi-disciplinary services in a community setting plays a crucial role in ensuring that those who do not need to be in acute care are removed from a hospital setting. “The delivery of Primary Care Centres in the greater Clondalkin and Lucan area has faced alarming delays to date. Despite repeated promises there have been no new primary care services in our area for some time now, which has a population of over 45,000 people. Currently patients in Clondalkin are travelling to Tallaght for their medical appointments, while they wait for the Boot Road, Primary Care Centre to be completed. “The proposed development at Boot Road, Clondalkin, when operational will be a significant and substantial health service facility in our community; this is something that I have been campaigning for a long time now. The centre will accommodate the following Primary Care Services: Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Psychology , Social Work, Podiatry and Public Health Nursing. This Centre also includes planning for expanded HSE Mental Health Facilities for the Clondalkin area.

“Every effort must be made now to ensure that the HSE fulfil its commitment to this centre and allow the people of Clondalkin access to essential Health Care. “I am looking forward to the construction of this project but I will persist in highlighting the need for this centre to be completed and operational as soon as possible and that they encounter no unnecessary delays,” he concluded.
