Fianna Fáil Councillor Shane Moynihan has been selected to contest the upcoming Dublin Mid-West Dáil bye-election. Cllr. Moynihan currently serves the people of the Palmerstown-Fonthill Local Electoral Area on South Dublin County Council. Following his addition to the ticket, Cllr Moynihan said: “I am very proud to represent Fianna Fáil in the upcoming bye-elections in November. Dublin Mid-West is my home – it’s been home my entire life – and it’s where I’m raising my family. I think it’s important to send someone who can deliver for Dublin Mid-West to Leinster House.
Cllr Moynihan said: “I am very proud to have been selected to represent Fianna Fáil in this November’s bye-election. I have been a proud member of the Party for almost 20 years and I believe we are now at a point in time where the country is in need of great political change. I believe Fianna Fáil is the Party to deliver the leadership that is required to supply that change.” “I grew up in this constituency and I am extremely honoured to have been given the opportunity to contest this bye-election with a view to representing my community in Dáil Éireann. I think it’s important to send a voice that represents local families to Leinster House. I am a proud member of Lucan Sarsfield GAA club which is at the heart of our local community and have been actively involved for many years.” “Childcare, public transport, housing, health and crime are areas of great concern to constituents. Raising a young family in the constituency gives me a unique insight into the everyday challenges faced by other families in Lucan, Clondalkin, Palmerstown and Fonthill. I will run a vigorous campaign which will demand improvements that enhance our environment and the delivery of public services in Dublin Mid West.”
Cllr. Moynihan holds a PHD in Politics from Trinity College Dublin and currently works for LinkedIn. “This is a really important period in our Nation’s history, with obvious implications for Dublin Mid-West. I am looking forward to the campaign and carrying the Fianna Fáil message to every corner of the constituency. I am looking forward to working with John Curran TD and Cllrs Trevor Gilligan and Ed O’Brien in the coming months.” concluded Cllr. Moynihan
