Cllr William Carey (SF) has expressed his concern and disappointment at the apparent lack of progress in securing the re-opening of SDCC run leisure centres.
Cllr Carey has urged both SDCC and SCDLS to engage together to secure the re-opening of South Dublin Leisure centres.
Cllr Carey stated that he is aware that staff have been working to maintain the equipment and also working towards putting in safety procedures and training. Although it is expected that they will be operating at a reduced capacity when they do open, getting the centres up and running, has to be a priority for all concerned. This must also be done in line with advice from the health and safety authority.
Cllr Carey added that SCDLS need to state when they plan to re-open. Customers who have paid membership fees are anxious to avail of the centres at the earliest opportunity as these centres play such a pivotal role in their health and well-being.
