Basketball Ireland is delighted to launch its new logo and website. The new logo was designed by Adam Ingle, a former member of Killester and DCU Mercy basketball club. The Ingle family are synonymous with basketball, Adam Ingle’s parents – Annette and Mark – founded DCU Mercy, a club which has had huge success with Mark Ingle as head coach, including winning the Women’s Super League title in 2019/20. Adam’s brothers are also involved in coaching, Stephen with DCU Mercy’s underage sides, while Sean Ingle coaches Grand Hotel Malahide in Division One of the men’s National League
Speaking about the new Basketball Ireland logo, Adam Ingle said: “Having the opportunity to create an identity for Basketball Ireland is a massive milestone for me. I have always had a vision for a more dynamic and symbolic identity that embodies Ireland as a nation and encapsulates the spirit of the basketball community as a whole. The brand refresh realigns Basketball Ireland’s visual components with its values. At the same time, the simplicity of the logo will ensure it remains relevant and easy to recognise to both national and international audiences.
“It means a lot that I get to leave a lasting impact on Basketball Ireland and the game way more than I could as a player. But, more importantly, it allows me to give something back to the sport that has provided me with so much as a kid.”
Commercial Manager for Basketball Ireland, Conor Meany, also welcomed the new look for Basketball Ireland: “Basketball Ireland are delighted with the new logo and I’d like to thank Adam for all his hard work putting it together. We think it captures the identity of modern Irish basketball and is something that our players can wear with pride around Europe. It was important to us that the design came from within the basketball community itself, which reinforces our aim of representing our players, coaches, officials and administrators all over the country.”
Basketball Ireland interim CEO, Paddy Boyd, added: “This refreshing of Basketball Ireland brand and website has been a project that has been in the making for a long time and is extremely welcome. There will continue to be additional features and updates to the new website over the coming weeks, as we showcase basketball in Ireland in the best possible light and cater for all areas of the game.”
