Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently announced plans to almost double its Dublin operation with the creation of 1,000 high-skilled technology jobs throughout Dublin including in Tallaght.
The expansion will bring to 3,500 the total number of people employed by Amazon and Amazon Web Services in Ireland. Local Fine Gael Councillor Brian Lawlor has welcomed the news.
“It’s brilliant to see more investment in Tallaght. Amazon is a household name and for them to be investing in their Amazon Web Services here in Tallaght is a real vote of confidence in our local economy and in local workforce” said Cllr. Brian Lawlor.
“IDA Ireland say that on average, for every 100 jobs created by foreign direct investment, another 71 jobs are generated indirectly through spin-off trade; these two investments will definitely mean good news for our area. That gives you an indication of how important investment like Amazon’s are for Tallaght,” continued Cllr. Lawlor.
“Tallaght is a strategic locations right at the gateway to South Dublin. It’s really well serviced by infrastructure and main roads including the M50 and has a great track record when it comes to enterprises,” concluded Cllr. Brian Lawlor.
