The Amazon fulfilment centre in Baldonnel has donated £5,000 to Angel Eyes NI. Angel Eyes NI is a charity dedicated to removing barriers for blind or partially sighted children to help them reach their full potential, as well as providing support for their families. The donation from Amazon will be used to connect young people with visual impairments around Northern Ireland through social events. Following the donation, the team from Amazon in Dublin travelled to Belfast to meet the Angel Eyes NI team to find out more about the charity’s work.

Speaking on the donation, Darragh Kelly, General Manager at Amazon in Dublin, said “Angel Eyes NI does incredible work for blind and partially sighted young people, and we’re pleased to support them with this donation. We chose to support Angel Eyes NI as they are a charity close to our colleague Sarah’s heart.”

Sarah Edgar, the Amazon employee who nominated the charity for support and visited the charity following the donation, added “I’m pleased that Angel Eyes NI is being recognised with this donation from Amazon. It is a fantastic charity that provides great support for many young people, and it was so good to hear first-hand from the charity’s team about the brilliant things they do.”

Sara McCracken, CEO from Angel Eyes NI, said “On behalf of everyone at Angel Eyes NI, we would like to thank Darragh and the Amazon team in Dublin for their donation and for coming to visit us. This money will help us continue to fund our mission to help blind and partially sighted young people achieve their dreams.”

The donation to Angel Eyes NI was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK and Ireland. The Amazon fulfilment centre in Dublin, the first of its kind in Ireland, opened in August 2022 providing more than 500 new permanent jobs. The 630,000 square foot centre at Baldonnell Business Park in Dublin holds millions of items that are picked, packed and shipped to customers across Ireland and the rest of Europe.
