An information board has been recently erected in Dublin City beside the Famine Sculptures.
Michael Blanch of CCIFV explains “The board contains the story of the 1490 people cleared of the land’s of Strokestown by the Landlord Major Denis Mahon who was assassinated in Strokestown in 1847. Black ’47 later after the story got back half the exiles died on the Coffinships and in the quarantine hospitals.”
Pictured on the information board are the Blanch family representing those who would have taken part in the Pilgrimage walk, the image include Michael Og, Ciara Blanch Dunne and Aobha Blanch, both pupils of Scoil Santain in Tallaght.
