A learner photovoice exhibition running in Tallaght Library throughout the month of September celebrates the power of education to transform the lives of adult learners and their families.
The Whirlwind and The Path comprises a collection of adult learners’ photos and narratives showcasing their experience of adult community education with An Cosán, Ireland’s largest community education organisation, which is based in Jobstown, Tallaght.
Members of the public who view the exhibition will gain an insight into An Cosán’s unique holistic approach to education, which incorporates a range of additional support services to ensure learners can become the best version of themselves. These include financial supports, IT support and laptop loans, early years’ education and care, parenting support, and 1:1 mentoring and counselling.
An Cosán’s CEO Heydi Foster said: “The Whirlwind and The Path is a collection of powerful testimonies about being open to, and embracing, change. Through their photos and narratives, our learners’ courage, resilience, tenacity, curiosity, and hunger to learn shine through. Among the issues raised are racism, substance use, bereavement, migration, domestic violence, learning difficulties, bullying, homelessness, and mental health.”
‘Powerful’, ‘inspiring’ and ‘insightful’ are just three words that have been used by visitors to the exhibition.
