Across the South Dublin local authority area, there has been an increase in dumping in urban and rural areas in recent months.

Local Councillor, Alan Edge commented “We had a spate of illegal dumping in recent weeks in the Glenasmole area. The vile behaviour of a small few who abuse the countryside really tests your faith in humanity but the amazing generosity of the volunteers is heartwarming. Veteran litter-pickers John Kiberd, Caragh Coote and Wladek Gaj didn’t hesitate to give up their afternoon at short notice to help out. They were joined by locals Donie Anderson (and Jess), who carried on cleaning up well into the evening, Martin Dunne and 9 year old Christopher Collins and his mum, Mary. Christopher is an amazing ambassador for the environment and for the local area and he and his mum do clean-ups of the local area every week. He gives us hope for the future”.
