During her talk, Prof Ivers said it was necessary to harness recovery capital in order to maximise the chances of successful recovery from addiction i.e. housing, health, education, employment and training, social services and justice. She said recovery was good for the community and the economy. Claire Naughton shared how Recovery Academy Ireland gives a voice and hope to recovering drug users, recovering alcoholics, those with behavioural addictions and people contemplating detox and treatment. “Recovery is not only possible, but achievable,” she said.
