Hundreds of Clondalkin residents turned out to attend the ‘Save Clondalkin Convent March’ in Clondalkin village recently. The event was the second such march to rally support for those who are campaigning against the development of a 155 bedroom four-storey nursing home on the grounds of the Convent, right in the heart of Clondalkin village.
“The Save Our Convent campaign is a real example of people power. The convent is an historic site that means an awful lot to local residents. It’s important that their voice is heard when it comes to deciding on it’s future. The plans need to change if we’re to preserve the heritage of the area and keep the natural amenity of the green space, that’s what the campaign is all about,” explained Cllr. Emer Higgins.
