Griffith College Dublin held its annual graduation recently, with more than 1500 students graduating. Griffith College awarded the Chair of the Policing Authority Josephine Feehily its prestigious Distinguished Fellowship Award at its Thursday afternoon ceremony. At the ceremony, President of Griffith College Professor Diarmuid Hegarty welcomed graduates, saying, “I’m delighted to see so many of our graduands, both Irish and international here who are proving to have such a positive impact all over the world. These graduands are making Griffith College proud with the roles they are taking up globally.”
Distinguished Fellowship recipient Josephine Feehily said of the award, “I am privileged and humbled to receive this award from Griffith College. In the course of my career, I have had opportunities to see first-hand the standard of education provided by the College; its successful growth, both in its footprint and in the range of disciplines; and the quality of its graduates. It is an honour for me to be associated with them today. The achievements generously attributed to me in this citation would not have been possible without talented and dedicated teams of civil and public servants everywhere I worked, and in receiving this award I would like to thank and pay tribute to them.”
The Distinguished Fellowship Award is Griffith’s highest honour and presented to those who have made a significant contribution to society over a period of time. Previous recipients of the award include Joe Schmidt, Seamus Heaney and Mary McAleese.
