Cllr Mark Ward has wholeheartedly welcomed the substantial development of community infrastructure for Collinstown Park over the next year. Collinstown Park will be getting a new play space and a teen space. The park is also included in the Councils pavilion programme and Cllr Ward has also called for additional car parking. Collinstown Park is in Neilstown, North Clondalkin.
Cllr Ward said: “Collinstown Park is an area I am extremely passionate about. I grew up very close to the park and I spent many a year there playing football for Neilstown Rangers as a young boy” “Collinstown Park is a wonderful amenity for the people of North Clondalkin. It is currently used by walkers, dog owners and local football teams” “The park is in line for some much needed and deserved community infrastructure. I recently secured addition capital that will see a large public play space in the park. This will be ideal for families with young children to use”
“Collinstown Park is also in line to get a teenage play space. This will see a multi-use area in the park that includes Wi-Fi so teenagers can have a safe place to meet with their friends. The plan was developed in collaboration with 500 local young people who gave their input in what a teen space should look like” “I have worked very closely with the Council to have Collinstown Park included on the pavilion programme and is on the recent Sports Capital Grant application. This pavilion will have a number of changing rooms, showers and meeting rooms to be used by sports clubs that use the park. This is something the area is crying out for for a long time. “ “The local football club Collinstown FC have 100s of young people playing football in the park. They have expanded into girls footballs and this is area that they say will only grow into the future. At the moment it is very challenging for the club to provide adequate facilities for all their players. I am calling on the Minister to release the funding for pavilion programme so this can be addressed”
“The North Clondalkin Library is due to open its doors early next year and is much welcome, however this is close to Collinstown Park and will also increase the pressure on parking around the park” “It is essential that a car parking is addressed around the park as the use of the park is going to grow with the development of all this community infrastructure. There is a high usage of the park already and this has led to some parking problems in adjoining estates and along the Collinstown Road” “I am happy with Councils response that they will look at providing on street parking as an interim measure as it will absorb some the parking pressure” “As the park develops and the usage of the park increases, I will continue to advocate for a stand-alone car park in addition to the on-street parking that the Council have proposed”
