Highlighting shortage home care packages

Seán Crowe T.D. supporting the protest outside Leinster House to highlight the shortage of home care packages, accessible respite care, step down beds and inadequate supports to enable citizens who have an impairment to live an independent life. Seán was joined by a number of those with an impairment who currently use services provided by Firhouse CRC.

Clients from Firhouse CRC protesting outside Leinster House on the 8th of May, looking for Better Home Care Packages – more hours, consistency of staff and flexibility with hours to suit their needs and Accessible Respite Facilities – purpose built fully accessible with ceiling hoists within one hour’s drive from Dublin, adequately staffed with hospital beds and call bells and with its own accessible transport and catering facilities and 20 nights respite per year so that family / carers can get a much-deserved break and recharge their batteries.
