John Curran T.D, has recently welcomed news that South Dublin County Council (SDCC) is planning a number of measures in the New Year in an attempt to alleviate traffic congestion in Rathcoole. The TD has raised the issue of traffic congestion in Rathcoole in Dáil Eireann and with SDCC in order that action will be taken to free up thousands of commuters and residents in Rathcoole, most of whom commute to and from work in the Greater Dublin Area.
In a letter received from SDCC recently, Deputy Curran has been informed that a number of measures will be carried out and trialled in the New Year in order to alleviate the existing level of traffic congestion in Rathcoole Village at peak times and also to pre-empt the future growth in the area. “In Q1 of 2019 and on completion of the R120 upgrade, SDCC will carry out a traffic study in Rathcoole with a view to assessing the volumes of traffic exiting the N7 and travelling North to Newcastle Village particularly at morning peak.
