‘The Mill’ – Join the Newsroom in Clondalkin

clondalkin paper mills

This autumn, join a small team of young people working together on a publishing project in Clondalkin. Led by writer Nathan O’Donnell, this team will meet regularly, developing skills in creative writing, journalism, research, photography, editorial and magazine design. Together the team will produce a new radical magazine. Participants will follow in the footsteps of the many artists and activists who have produced these publications in the past, assembling art, writing, and photography, and thinking about how to effect change.

Regular newsroom sessions will be accompanied by occasional workshops with visiting writers, artists, and journalists. There will also be an off-site letterpress printing workshop at the National Print Museum and a two-day workshop on making a protest banner. This project is open to young people (16-20) from all backgrounds – whether in education or not – living in the Clondalkin area. Please get in touch if you’d like to get involved. Email: themill.publicart@gmail.com

Young people of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply; you do not need to have a background in writing or any educational qualification. The Mill is inspired by the Clondalkin Paper Mill and the legacy of the strikes and occupations of the 1980s.
