Retired Active Men’s Social Newcastle (RAMS) are a senior men’s groups, who are now eight years in existence and hold a weekly activity morning every Thursday in the Community Centre Newcastle, Co. Dublin. With 78 members and on average 45 members attend the weekly activities including mat bowls, darts, pool, card playing and socialising. Some time ago, a number of members started a singing group, entertaining patients in various local hospitals, residents in local nursing homes and entertaining at events.
“RAMS in Rhythm” is the start of a new venture for the singing group, they recorded their first CD of their favourite songs and all funds raised will go to four charities. The four chosen charities are The Laura Lynn Foundation, Down Syndrome Ireland (Kildare Branch), Capuchin Fathers Church Street and St Vincent de Paul. The recording took place at the recording studios in Redgap, Rathcoole and was supervised by Daire Winston. Members are senior men from the areas of Newcastle, Rathcoole, Redgap, Clonee, Celbridge and Glasnevin.

The RAMS in Rhythm will be performing at a number of venues during the coming months and CD’s will be on sale there also. The next event will be at SuperValu Celbridge on Friday 24th August.
