€140,000 for ground breaking projects. New ground breaking projects which support young people and families are to receive a €140,000 boost according to Minister Katherine Zappone. The South Dublin County Partnership, the Community Development Initiative and An Cósan are each getting money to improve the lives of children in our local communities.
The grants are being made available by Minister Zappone through a scheme to encourage new ideas which will have a direct positive impact on the lives of young people. Making the announcement Minister Zappone said: “It is a tribute to the hard work, dedication and commitment of community workers and volunteers that three of our local projects have been selected for what is a ground-breaking stream of funding. Our aim is to encourage new ideas and approaches so that children and young people are engaged and supported.
Local projects which will benefit are:
Childhood Development Initiative (Tallaght West) €50,215
An Cosán €32,470
South Dublin County Partnership €30,250
South Dublin Children and Young People’s Services Committee €28,150
The Childhood Development Initiative (Tallaght West), An Cosán will further develop childcare and out of school services, the South Dublin County Partnership is going to develop therapeutic kick-boxing while the South Dublin Children and Young People’s Services Committee will focus on supporting children and families affected by homelessness. I am encouraging each to get about its work and research as quickly as possible and develop the new projects. In addition children in our communities will also benefit from funding which are also providing to national organisations – work is being carried out in the area of bereavement, LGBTI+ supports and school participation.
Each of the projects is exciting and energising. They open up new areas of work. Frontline community organisations transform lives and as an Independent Minister representing Dublin South West I have been determined to deliver extra support. This announcement underlines that commitment.”
