DCU are delighted to announce that third-year BSc in Computer Science student, Marjia Siddik, has been awarded the inaugural Fidelity Women in STEM Student Scholarship 2024/5. The Fidelity Women in STEM Student Scholarship aims to address the underrepresentation of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Alongside a new scholarship for women pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computing at DCU, the funding also provides scholarships that support female student athletes to achieve in sport and in STEM, and Access scholarships for female STEM students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
This scholarship is part of a new four-year collaboration between Fidelity Investments Ireland and the DCU Educational Trust, which promotes the representation of female/female identifying students in STEM through financial aid, while aligning with the EDI objectives of both the university and the sponsor. This initiative aligns with the university’s overarching goal of delivering a transformative student experience that is grounded in support, opportunities, and deeper engagement with a like-minded and field-relevant industry partner.
Winner of this scholarship, Marjia Siddik, commented on the achievement: “This scholarship is a meaningful validation of my commitment to fostering inclusivity in technology. It recognises my efforts, provides invaluable support for my studies and professional growth, and inspires me to keep contributing to a tech industry that serves everyone equitably.”
