Following the announcement of the new College of Commissioners recently, Fianna Fáil MEP for Dublin, Barry Andrews, welcomed the allocation of the Justice portfolio to Michael McGrath.

Andrews said: “Clearly, Michael McGrath has been rewarded with an important portfolio which will call on his significant political skills. Enforcement of the EU treaties is not just a matter for Hungary but for all Member States and Commissioner-designate McGrath will hopefully take a leading role over the course of this mandate. His financial acumen will not be wasted as he will be able to contribute to policy discussions on the new Multiannual Financial Framework (2027-2034) which are likely to kick off during next summer.”

“I wish Commissioner-designate McGrath well in his role and look forward to working with him in the years ahead” concluded Andrews.
