A shift towards more sustainable means of travel was a topic to the fore when Rathcoole tea wholesaler, Niks Tea was visited by NEVO presenter, Derek Reilly, the popular and well-known Belmullet-born commentator on electric vehicles.

Arriving in an all-electric Mercedes-Benz eVito van, Reilly had come to Rathcoole on what he said was a ‘circuitous journey from Dublin to Kerry’, there to collect a consignment of the wholesaler’s ‘delightfully tasty’ tea and transport it onwards to Dingle where it will feature and compete for awards at the forthcoming 17th Blas na hEireann 2024 Irish Food Awards Festival, which takes place from October 3rd to 5th next, in partnership with Bank of Ireland.

The annual Blas na hEireann 2024 Irish Food Awards festival – is attended by a legion of Ireland’s growing body of artisan food producers – and is viewed by the Rathcoole wholesaler as ‘the biggest competition for quality Irish produce on the island of Ireland and a central point for producers like ourselves to come together to celebrate the very best of Irish food and drink and raise our profile in the market’.
