South Dublin is set to benefit from over €1 Million in funding to support initiatives like community gardens, solar energy, EV charging, and community composting, a local Minister has said. The Community Climate Action programme supports projects which focus on building low carbon communities across the State, and also supports cross-border projects that contribute to climate and energy targets.
Minister for Business, Employment and Retail and Local TD Emer Higgins said: “I am delighted that so many communities across South Dublin have been successful in receiving this funding, with a total of €1,073,000 for projects in our area, especially with-it being Dublin Action Climate Week recently.
“This funding will support a diverse range of organisations, including sports clubs, tidy towns, local enterprises, arts groups, as well as our own local groups that have a significant impact on our communities.
“Some of these groups include Recycle IT, Rathcoole FC, Rathcoole Community Council, Lucan Harriers Athletics, Clondalkin Tidy Towns, North Clondalkin Community Development Programme, Round Towers GAA, Ace Enterprise Park, and Clondalkin Addiction Services Programme. Congratulations to these local groups; I am confident this funding will contribute to enhancing our area and advancing our climate goals.”

I’ve worked closely with the team at Recycle IT, South Dublin County Council and Councillor Caroline Brady to organise several recycle events across Lucan, and these events have been hugely welcome by local residents.
