It’s been an interesting few years for The Irish Fairy Door Company. Like most small businesses in the country, they have gone through lots of ups and downs due to the global pandemic, among other everyday business issues. But having just gained back full control of the company after exiting a licensing agreement with Allied Imports, The Irish Fairy Door Company are back in business and can’t wait to get back to what they do best.
“We are back where we need to be. We are bringing the magic back so to speak! Our company always experienced our biggest growth when we ourselves were in full control. And that is exactly how we feel now that we have exited the licensing agreement we had entered back in 2019”, says co-founder Niamh Sherwin Barry. “This company was always like our third baby so it was difficult to watch other people attempt to communicate the magic we had so lovingly created from day 1” says Sherwin Barry.
“Now in 2023 we feel that what we have created is even more important than ever before to put out into the world. The pandemic and the fallout of it, has changed our children’s lives in ways I don’t feel that we fully understand just yet. That is why concentrating on creating more products within the wellness space is something that is very important to us. The Calming Caterpillar did incredibly well and we are so proud of it. The feedback we continue to get is so encouraging” remarks Sherwin Barry. “Interestingly enough, we nearly have a whole new generation of children now coming through ready to invite their very own fairy into their home too! Having been in business for over 10 years now, lots of children who had a fairy door originally are now in their teens. Time to bring the magic again for all the little people out there who need it”.
The Irish Fairy Door Company rose to fame quickly after its launch in 2013. With appearances on The Late Late Toy Show, Ireland AM, Newstalk, Today FM and many others the brand quickly became beloved by the Irish public. When asked why she thinks the company has so many advocates out there, Sherwin Barry smiles and says “I think the reason is very much to do with how our community has come together over the years. The amount of inspiration we have gotten from our own customers has been unreal. Every product, every idea, every concept, we always run it by our followers and we have always gotten such helpful feedback. I really do feel that we have brought our customers on this journey with us and I am just over the moon to be back where we belong!
So what’s next for The Irish Fairy Door Company. Sherwin Barry explains “We have just sent our first large shipment in a long time over to the USA and one to Portugal. We are just over the moon! We had to rebuild our whole website which has taken a huge amount of time and investment but we really do feel ready to get going again. We have three exciting new wellness products in development and can’t wait to get them out there. Going back to grassroots ‘play’ is something that is very close to our hearts and we feel that between our original fairy doors, our no more worries range, the Calming Caterpillar and these new additions, we will be able to put ourselves on the map once again”.
